Consistency in reporting on student assessment is useful, particularly for parents, when students move from one school to another.
Currently there is no well defined standard for A-E reporting, except that students able to achieve the outcomes listed in the Achievement standard for a KLA are eligible for a C grade. (Reference: See page 5 of the ACT DET Teachers' Guide to Assessment). This is very useful and a suitably consistent approach to C grades, but A's and B's appear to be a bit trickier.
